Welcome to the 8th episode of "The Developer Digest".

The goal of this series is to achieve my goals, document my stuff, building things, experimenting with new stuff, learning and sharing every week.

Logs

FYP

So, mainly i was working these days on my fyp, yesterday was my deadline.

For 10k training, i picked 8k for training and 2k for testing.

Approximately i thought it would take 3 hours so i was not possible to finetune it on Google Colab as runtime would stop between training. So i picked Kaggle where they give 30 hours per week.

And these are wandb graphs after training. I didn't know how to read these graphs but i did some research and so far i found out that model is good like its not overfit.

I also uploaded video on youtube explaining my finetuning process

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69JAa7LJs7Y&t=6s

Now i am looking for a way to deploy the model so i can launch this so others can try this out. Currently didn't found any affordable solution as i need gpu vm to deploy it and its paid. Azure didn't provide gpu machines to students, google colab will stop the run time after some time, maybe i will use huggingface although its expensive (i read some articles) and i didn't have other options left.

CI/CD

I was testing with EC2 and I thought let's setup the complete CI/CD Pipeline with it. This was very helpful for me as now i don't have to redeploy projects everytime.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk-kKisuWlU&t=12s&pp=0gcJCdkKAYcqIYzv

AWS Gold Badge

I just received Gold Badge from AWS.

This was received after conducting my 3rd event on AWS Cloud Club UET New Campus.

I also got aws certification voucher and maybe chance to conduct aws student community days ;)

Experiments

Calendone

Previous week, I launched Calendone.

The idea was to build dead simple appointment booking system along with some automated reminder so it can reduce no show and missed appointments.

I launched it on linkedin but didn't get that much impressions.

So, I post about it more on some reddit communities.

Shopify

Lately i was experimenting with Shopify, and adding custom components.

I was making custom sections, shopify also has AI integration.

Vibe Coding

I had some credits left in lovable. So I decided to vibe code something and make a video on it for YouTube.

I explored papercode.in, a website where you can practice research papers.

I had similar idea like this for a while now so I thought lets vibe code this idea to see what would be the final result.

I recorded the video, you can see here 👇👇

## WebShark

I previously shared in my previous blog that i was working on a chrome extension that tracks time spent on chrome. It shows data for each website and user can see daily list and overall can see stats for time.

Currently i have pause the development due to some priorities. But recently i had some time so i setup the landing page for it as this project is in pipeline to be launched.

AWS Silver Badge

I received Silver badge for AWS Cloud Club at UET Lahore New Campus.

This was received after submitting 2nd event, yesterday i also submitted the 3rd event so soon i will be receiving Gold Badge also.

The journey has been great so far. I am getting back my spark for community building. I am getting ideas for more activities which is great i guess because i wasn't getting more ideas, some ideas come but in faded form.

Experiments

Opengl

So I install opengl and try to create a window this week.

My next goal is to explore graphics programming more in depth. Firstly I thought of exploring Vulkan but i got to know that vulkan is a bit complex and i can start with OpenGL. Later i can shift to vulkan if needed as concepts are pretty much same.

Appointment Booking

I am working on my appointment booking SaaS. Its almost completed, just looking at final things and improving the missing details.

One thing my member told we should launch it after Ramadan as posts are not getting that engagement during this month.

AWS Ramadan Series

We have started a Ramadan series on AWS.

It was about 2-3 weeks ago i guess when i told this idea to my team and we finalized 3 sessions that we will be organizing and picked:

IAM

EC2

S3

Starting with IAM service, we got session today with Faisal Rehman. It was great session packed with basic but useful information about AWS IAM and its different concepts.

Amazon SES/Event Bridge

So, I was working on a project where I have to work with sending emails at some intervals.

Specifically, sending emails on an event and at some intervals like 2 hours before event, 1 hour before event etc.

I started experimenting with it, wrote code from AntiGravity and setup everything on aws.

Got some errors at start, SES was working perfectly but got some errors connecting with Event Bridge.

At last, i was able to connect both of it.

Experiments

Next Project

After cancelling my first project that i shared previously, I picked and started another project.

This will be an appointment scheduling where users can set their schedule and their clients can book appointments with them. Something like Calendly.

Now i picked this because i did some research and find out it there's clear demand for this software, mainly small to medium companies.

Its almost complete, just implemented email service so automated reminders can be sent.

Logs

OpportunityOS

Previous weekend, I participated in LovHack x CREAO AI Hacakthon.

It was sponsored by Creao AI where we have to build a usable agent using the tool in 48 hours.

I had the idea for building something that read pain problems and posts from reddit, convert them into useful insights to give some ideas that we can build to provide solutions. And this tool also had the reddit integration so I thought its a good time to build this project.

First i connected Reddit and Gmail to the workspace. I ask some permissions so i gave some necessary permissions and ask it to build this agent.

After 10 minutes, I have a fully working agent ready.

It has some parameters that i can tweak, like what subreddits to search for problems, what keyword to search for & email to send final report to.

I also recorded and uploaded video on youtube regarding this:

Android Studio

I wanted to make something, like an app with android IDE and Kotlin. Basically, I want to deep dive into Kotlin and system apps where i can use system level permissions to build apps.

So, I am trying to learn and maybe start with basic level apps.

Web Tracking

I wanted to track my web habits, what websites i visit most, time duration etc. So, I get to know where i mostly waste or spend my time.

So, recently I participated in Gemini 3 Hackathon on Devpost.

Theme was to make something using gemini 3 image generation, vision and normal text generation.

So, I worked with my classmates Bilal and Rana Tigrina 🐸

For the project, we have GameVizr, a visual game design tool for game developers that help them in converting their rough, unstructured ideas into a usable way so they can use it to make the game.

Its a block based interface where each node is responsible for a specific feature, like Story block is for story generation, character design is for generating characters and so on.

After generation on one node, it will pass on to other agents as well so it can be used to give other outputs as well.

HackNation Hackathon

I also participated in another hackathon.

It was HackNation, and multiple domains to make projects, like ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Mozilla, Data Bricks and more.

It started with starting call on zoom with some speaker sessions like Raffi Krikorian CTO @Mozilla, Lee Robinson VP @Cursor and more

Then they reveal challenges.

It has many challenges and our team picked elevenlabs challenge where we have to make autonoumus appointment booking system that call the services providers, negotiate and book appointment keeping in mind user schedule.

Flow is first user will pick service: like doctor, dentist, etc

Then our platform will take user location and fetch that services using Google Places API around the user area.

That data will have a phone number, so we use elevenlabs agentic ai for voice converstion that can talk and between the conversation can check calendar and other things using its tool feature.

We got like 20 hours to complete the project and submit it.

As we were 4 teammates so we divide the tasks accordingly and work individually on each one.

Also got some credits from OpenAI and ElevenLabs 😅

OpenClaw Video

You have seen or read about OpenClaw/ClawdBot, on how its changing the AI and other buzz.

So I experiementing with a new video commentary type video format & made a video on it explaining openclaw and all the things that happened since.

https://youtu.be/OQImLUbANDM

Experiments

WhatsApp Agent

Previous week, I was experimenting with making whatsapp bot.

I was working on a SaaS idea and it has whatsapp bot integration.

Although i made it work with a test account but to make it work on production, i need to first get a number approval from business account.

Also, the way i am thinking the product to be seems to ffar right now because of these approvals from different stores. So, maybe i had to stop working on this idea and pick new one.

That’s it for this one.

AWS Bronze Badge

So, I just got bronze badge from AWS Community for our first event in AWS Cloud Club UET New Campus.

Although, I conducted event in 24 december 2025, I forgot to fill the form after the event, and I got to know previous week, so I filled the form and get the badge after 2-3 days.

Yesterday, I attended an event “Beyond Freelancing: The Art of Building High Value Agency”.

It happened at Rspace Gulberg, with some amazing speakers like Shajeel Afzal, Hashir Baig, Sara Ahmad etc.

The agenda was on building an agency from one person. Questions were on starting agency, getting clients, setting up pricing, doing the project, maintaining the relationship with client and many more.

First Agent/Automation

One of my goals for this year is to build AI agents & automations that i can sell. The Goal of First month was to build first agent and try market it.

Although, I wasn’t able to complete it, I did make good progress and its almost completed.

First problem was to pick something that has clear problem. After researching for many days, I finally got one idea and started building it.

More updates on next episode.

Gemini Hackathon

Currently Gemini 3 Hackathon is going on in DevPost.

Its basically a hackathon where you have to build something with Gemini 3, it can be anything maybe using just gemini, gemini vision or nano banana 🍌 or combined

So, I teamed up with my friends and we are building our project. Idea is to make the process of selecting theme, characters, levels etc for game developers. Main flow is: user can upload game design document or can type and tell about the game, and our project should be able to brainstorm characters, make their pictures, maybe give ideas on level design and overall game flow. I think it could be very helpful for game developers that want to work on game but at start, stuck on these things.

Welcome to the very first episode of “The Developer Digest”.

The goal of this series is to achieve my goals, document my stuff, building things, experimenting with new stuff, learning and sharing every week.

Development Logs

Setting some things up:

As you know its start of new year, so every year for the past 2-3 years, I setup some goals for the year so i can have some direction of where to move this year.

Although, previous year, many of my goals were incomplete due to my inconsistency and laziness i guess.

But this year, i have made some realistic goals with some measurable metrices that i can evaluate later on.

So, I didn’t work on anything for now, just exploring where i did wrong last year, and setting up myself for this year and what i want to achieve.

I didn’t take YouTube seriously, I think i only started uploading regularly at last quarter of 2025 and I want to take this as serious habit. So, one of my goal is to be consistent with YouTube and get some subscribers to measure. For now, I set goal of 10k subscribers for 2026.

One of my inspirations in Building in Public “Wajahat Karim” dedicate a whole page in his website for 2026 goals.

You can visit here to see full: https://www.wajahatkarim.com/goals

Its good to keep yourself accountable and I was thinking of doing same. But I thought i should keep my goals private util its complete, so I will see if i should create a page or not.

Experiments

n8n

So, I started experimenting with n8n.

Some of my friends were using this and i saw many videos making workflows on it. So I thought i should give it a try.

Currently, I am working on automating my deployment stuff with vercel and github so it can be automated without me deploying everytime when my teammate commit something.

One of my friend told me about an agency working on AI automation and getting clients so I will also research on it to see if I got any idea for auomations that i can sell.

AI Exploration

One of my goals for this year is to deep dive into AI/ML stuff.

Not because its trending right now, but i find it very interesting. I went deep dive into it while working on my fyp where I have to fine tune an llm. That’s where i got to know and research some things about it and i got more interested day by day to explore more stuff.

I use substack on daily basis to read and write writing stuff mostly fiction stuff. I found some authors there that share AI stuff, like explaining architectures of models, writing about techniques etc. I also found a series where i person try to implement gpt 2 or 3 i guess from scratch like he was doing this all from literally scratch. I also found many more authors like these and I think that would be enough for me to start learning these things.

That’s it for this one.

Hope you like this first episode.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Logs

This will be the last episode of Keyboard confessions series. So, in total, I posted 27 episodes of this series. This article is also 100th article on my blog as well.

Its been 2 years since I am running this series, writing about work that I do.

2025 was…. good.

Although i didn’t achieve most of my goals that I set at start, it did teach me some of the most terrible lessons about life. Something I wasn’t expected or ready for, but faced anyway. So, its kind of true that life takes exam first then the lesson. For me, 2025 was kind of failure i guess.

I made a video at start of 2025 on my YouTube channel.

In the video, I talk about what i want to acheive in 2025 as programmer. Other goals were personal so I didn’t share them.

Let’s talk about each goal that I shared there.

For Machine Learning / AI, I had the goal to deep dive into this field and get some experience. Although, throughout the year I didn’t spent too much time that I should spent. Fortunately, my fyp project is AI based, so it give me push to learn some things and get some experience.

For Game Development, I started with Blender, did some projects but lost sight there. I wanted to publish 1 game in 2025 but failed there.

I did make some of my ideas, including Fluxxion, PlanWisr, and many more that I shared on my Linkedin. Although the plan was to make digital product at end of 2025 so i would have some product running and giving something. But, only product that is currently running is Fluxxion, but it still needs work to do so it can reach to at a level.

For Deployment/Cloud, I made progress in last months. Although, I did deploy some projects earlier this year, but most of the progress were in last months. I became AWS Cloud Club Captain at UET Lahore New Campus. This gives me opportunity to get into this field, conduct some sessions on cloud for community.

UI/UX goal was optional, it was kind of side quest so I didn’t give it that much attention.

For community, I grew Fluxxion to 1500 members on WhatsApp Community, 3000 on linkedin and around 1500 members on Platform.

This was my GitHub Unwrap, a project that i created previous year, now make it for 2025.

So, in summary, 2025 was not the best year but it was good in some other ways.

It teaches how you will get to experience some things in life that you didn’t even think of. And it will try to break you in so many ways to test you out.

It teaches that despite crying alone, how you have to show up anyways because this is want life is. It will give you scenerio, slap on your face and expects to give you a lesson. You can fail, cry about it but you have to show up anyways for the next slap because that’s the only option you have.

It teaches emotion dependence is so much dangerous that you shouldn’t be dependent on someone, emotionally, financially and in every possible way.

and you have to keep going because you won’t understand your peak without experiencing your fall.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Live Stream

Recently I thought I should start weekly LIVE STREAMS again. Although I missed this week stream 😊

But, previous week I did a live stream.

While i was planning what will I do on streams. Firstly I thought I could build my FYP as I have seen some folks building their FYP on live stream.

Then, I thought i have some project ideas that I really want to persue but didn’t have time to start a project as I already stuck with previous ones.

So, Currently I started writer project that I wanted to build. Bascially a platfrom for writers to build their writing habits by daily writing practice on their writing projects.

Currently, I almost completed the frontend of the project on my first live stream.

YT Video

Recently, I uploaded this video on my YouTube Channel.

I recently install arch on my system, and in this video, I give a walkthrough on how i did that.

Arch is probably my favourite linux distro. While I was installing, I thought i can make a full linux series on my YouTube channel. So I started recording the screen on the installation steps.

Btw. this arch insallation video got 100 views. After a long time I got these videos on single video.

Hardware Project

I don’t know for how long, but i was very much interested in doing a hardware project.

Like using arduino or other type of board and build something from it.

Currently, I will not reveal project i am working on. As its a big project and my skillset on electronics is not even close to the goal that I want to complete.

But yeah, lets see what happens.

FYP

I already got the evaluation date for FYP which is 7th January.

So, before that i need to wrap up 50% of FYP project.

Main part is model finetuning. I trained the model on my collected dataset and currently its not giving good results right now.

Firstly, model doesn’t following the JSON format. Sometimes it ignore the format and print normal text, sometimes it give JSON response but miss a curly or square bracket.

Main reason I think its because 1B parameters is too small to follow the exact JSON format that i want. So, i need to find other way where maybe model follow JSON format else i was thinking of removing this format and use direct text.

Weekly Picks

These are some videos, articles & resources for this week that I found helpful.

That’s it for this one.

Hope you like this episode.

Consider sharing it with your programming friends and community.

Development Logs

YT Video(s)

So I posted two videos from previous episode to now.

First one was on my FYP progress, where I talk about creating the baseline for the project. It includes setup the complete project, data collection pipeline, completing the auth and other stuff.

Second video I uploaded on creating a automated script that takes backup from your mongodb and store on supabase.

Fluxxion

Fluxxion crossed 1000 users previous week (currently its almost 1500).

Currently we are focusing on getting more developers to use our platform so we can get to know more about their needs and problems that they face and we can provide solution for it.

Previously, We conducted Weekend Build Marathon challenge starting from Friday 8 PM till Sunday 8 PM, I think many participants like the format (from feedback) so we will continue that series.

FYP

Currently its progressing, collected almost 3k dataset, working on getting next 2k.

Working on platform also, chat system is done, group creation, joining, leaving is done.

Now working on group posts, next have to work on creating workshops within platform.

Also working on implementing evaluation plan so we can check model results.

Idea competition

on 1st December, I participated in idea competition that happened at UET Lahore.

Although, My team register 1 week before the competition day, but we got to know night before the competition that we also have to present the MVP along with presentation.

So basically, we started the project at night and make the mvp in like 3 hours.

Our idea was to automate social media posts where user can post on multiple platforms at once, user can schedule posts, generate images/videos using AI and can post it and many more…

On competition day, we presented the idea in front of panel and other participants. Although, We did good, but i saw many presentations were at idea stage, like they were just presenting their ideas and telling this can be done, so forth. Yes, anything can be done, but I think there should be something to show what we did, and also I don’t think panels consider the demo or any working in final result, cz two of the winners were just showed their slides and present their idea, they show no demo.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

YouTube Video

I tried GitLab the previous week and think of making a video on it.

So, I recorded a video where i talk about GitLab basics, from creating account, creating groups and projects, setting up SSH keys and pushing to that project.

Overall, It was the same process as GitHub just platform is changed and so is the workflow.

Although, It didn’t work with my current workflow.

But here is the video → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADTdnm6EXng

This week video is bit pending, maybe I will upload tonight or after 2-3 days.

LUMS Startup Weekend

So, I participated in Startup Weekend Hackathon from 7 to 9 November.

To be honest, I went on some event after a long time.

Last time I remember it was I think PUCON, I didn’t go to any physical event or hackathon just because I didn’t want to at that time. But I felt great after attending this event.

Overall, energy was great. I learn a lot of new things. I even recorded videos that I thought of making a complete video for youtube but didn’t get the time to edit it. So i will try to edit video and post it on youtube/insta.

I wrote linkedin post about it:
https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7394405602254462976/

Weekend Build Marathon

So, inspired from LUMS startup hackathon, I decided to do something similar at Fluxxion.

So, I came up with the idea of Weekend Build Marathon.

A kind of marathon where participants make the project on a specified theme and we will announce the winner and post on our socials.

Sounds Great? maybe.

So, I announced the first version of it.

Got like 80 registrations on the event.

Its just completed yet with very few project submissions then total registration but yeah I think that’s not a big deal.

FYP

It was a complete disaster and headache last week.

So, Last week was the deadline for submitting the Design document of FYP.

Its a kind of blueprint that outlines the plan for the project before implementation begins.

And It was a complete fu**ed up scene.

As you may know I am bit lazy person, I complete my work at the very last minute. But I got same group members 😊

I have to change the model and every other thing.

Anyways, at the very last minute, I was able to submit the document.

I will talk about all of this in my upcoming video.

Fluxxion

I made some changes in Fluxxion.

First of all, we are getting engagement issues, most persons were not returning to the platform after first time login. And some users don’t know what to do after logging in to the platform.

So, I came up with a plan of implmenting a Quest system.

Like kind of system that tells person what to do after coming to platform. Its like tutorial type system, it will give options to user, user pick that and complete to get points.

Also did some little tweaks and changes like adding previous and next button on challenge page so user can move to other challenge after completing it.

Many more changes to come.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

AWS Cloud Captain

I selected as AWS Cloud Caption at my university, UET Lahore New Campus 🥳🥳🙌

I applied at start of previous month and was confused at the time that should I apply for it.

FYP

In Previous episode, I talk about model selection that, I have 2 options to pick model.

I had options for BART & FLAN T5, at last I went with FLAN T5.

Then, I have to collect dataset, so first I start with manually collecting data from Product Hutn & Y Combinator. It was time consuming task so I found a script that scraps data from ycombinator with some filter options. I run that script and collect data of ycombinator from W21 to onwards total 3k startups.

I also found ProductHunt api, it has some limitations but I was able to extract 1k startups from it. Overall data now contains 4k rows which is close to my target that is 5k.

But main problem starts from here, the dataset I collect is 50%, now I have to manually write recommendation business model, gaps/weaknesses, strengths and next steps recommendation for each idea based on my defined criteria which is time consuming task taking roughly about 7-10 minutes on each startup.

I only have 1 month left for data collection and before that I have to complete the annotation of data so I can train and see the progress of the model. Looking impossible right now.

And because of this week, I wasn’t able to focus on any other project as I didn’t get free time after complete my work.

YouTube

I wasn’t able to complete any project previous weekend so i got nothing to upload on YouTube. So previous week went without uploading anything on YouTube.

However, I did get some new ideas to work on, but this would be last week, after that i have mid exams so I have to prepare 2 videos.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Model for FYP

Previous week, I uploaded Episode # 02 of my FYP Diaries video, check it out if you haven’t:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2EbpEIOlzg&t=35s

So, upon instructions from our supervisor, we have to first find which model we will use fine tune for our use case.

We found this link where huggingface show list of available models:
https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers/en/main_classes/model

I have to find the model that I can use in this use case along with reason and keeping in mind, i have to fine tune it, so I have to pick model that can maybe take less resources to train.

I found some models, some options are FLAN T5, BART, but FLAN is instruction based model so I have to see if I can use it or not.

Github Backup

I watched videos from Chai Aur Code & ThePrimeTime, it was on github ban topic, where some profiles got banned because of adding invalid PRs to projects, so I got the idea to build some tool that can help me take a backup of all of github repositories so i can’t lose access to them.

Then, I recorded the video for my channel, explaining the development process of it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izhqDU8VtlY&t=20s

Prepare for Successful Career Session

On Sunday, we conducted a session on “Perparing for Successful Tech Career” conducted by Saifullah Khan.

I was thinking of doing this session at start of this month, and already had Saifullah in my mind for this, but didn’t reachout to him until on 20 october I guess, when I messaged him and he accepted the invitation.

Anyways, it was a great session with valuable new insights that I got from speaker. I got new checklist and some roadmap to later follow on.

Development Logs

Laptop Setup

I bought a new laptop HP ZBook Studio G4.

The first step was to install all of the softwares and tools and everything that i need for my workflow.

So, first I made a whole list of softwares that I need.

Then, I install all of them.

I also recorded a youtube video for the setup where I showed all tools and softwares that I use

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLFNJyB00uk&t=27s

Bookshelf page

So inspired by some personal website of a person that I saw somewhere, I added bookshelf page on my website.

Previously I was using GoodReads to track my books but after adding this, i can use it as tracker to track which books I am reading or have completed reading.

So, previously I had this idea of making a CMS something like Wordpress but from scratch for sake of learning and to learn how these things work in detail.

So i was thinking of making something like this maybe in Django. Because I want to make a complex project in django to learn it more in depth, and i want to implement complete plugin system where everyone can make a plugin for cms and can install it, same as Wordpress.

So, I started the development of Atomik, a CMS made in Django. Its currently in early stages, i just compeleted work on inital setup where user can install atomik and start using it, I implemented the installation wizard system and setup the initial project.

FYP

I wrote in previous episode that my fyp idea got accepted.

I made Episode # 03 of “The FYP Diaries” series on my YouTube channel where I explain the new idea with problems to tackle.

Overall idea is clear now and need to tackle those problems.

I have uploaded the episode # 03 on my youtube channel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2EbpEIOlzg&t=28s

Live Streams

Previously I did some live streams on my youtube channel where I was building some projects live.

So, I was thinking to restart that habit of maybe one stream per week where i start one project and make it till the end, like maybe complete one project in 2-3 streams.

Previously I had issues with my laptop as my previous laptop wasn’t that powerful but I got new one with better specs so I can there will be no problem in doing live streams now (I guess so)

For the live stream, maybe I can build projects or maybe learn new thing, maybe it can be a technology or maybe something else but LIVE.

This way I can make my YouTube channel more active.

Let me know in comments if its good or if you have any suggestion about this.

Intro to AWS Session

A while ago, we conducted a session on Intro to Cloud Computing and AWS.

I was thinking of doing a session on Cloud Computing but then I got idea of adding AWS with it.

Then I finalize the event idea with speaker and we conducted the event.

We also got collaboration with AWS Cloud Clubs Riphah International University Lahore.

Open source

We started Fluxxtoberfest event in Fluxxion, same as Hacktoberfest.

The main purpose was to get open source contributions from participants so they get to know about how they can contribute to projects.

This year, we added 1 MERN, 1 Django, 2 frontend & 1 React Native project.

So far, its working great, we got some contributions from participants.

Final Year Project

So, yeah my fyp proposal is accepted today.

In summary, my idea got accepted after working only for 2 days in it.

Previously I worked for about 3 months on an idea. I didn’t get assigned supervisor till end of summer semester.

I was assigned a supervisor just 2 weeks ago, after 3 months of summer when I think everyone has completed 1/3 part of fyp.

After supervisor was assigned, I had to change idea because of some issues and have only 2 days to find new idea and submit proposal and present it in front of panel.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Cam Crew

I had an idea in my diary for a platform for photographers. I even consider this idea for my FYP but didn’t select it because it didn’t have any new or innovative thing that FYP committee consider this idea.

Back then, I tell this idea to my friend who is a photographer, the idea seems good and innovative to him but he didn’t show any interest to pursue this idea with me.

Anyways previous week, I decided to take part in Appwrite Sites Hackathon where I have to submit an idea. The only condition was it should be deployed with Appwrite Sites.

I got to know about this hackathon on 1 September and it has deadline till 12 September. So, I roughly had 2 weeks to complete the development. But, I wasn’t able to complete it.

Mainly because I worked on other projects and only work on it for 2 days, and that was 11 and 12 September.

Second because of Appwrite errors, it was my first time using appwrite and it is similar to Firebase. But, it has many things that I think needed to be improved.

Firstly, I was using appwrite authentication to authenticate user, auth has some pre defined fields in appwrite like username, email, password, full name, phone number etc. But in my case, I need to add one more field “role” which is either “photographer” or “user” that will differentiate if user is a photographer or normal user. But it didn’t have option to extend that user schema, it has something called refs I guess, where I can add more data but it wasn’t good for filter and searching features. I had to make separate table to store additional data for photographers like skills, profile picture, experience, social links, pricing etc and and add a relation to user table.

Not only this, in my case, I have to save photographer schedule where photographer can enter when he is available for shooting session. Normally you would use array of objects something like this:

[
{
"day": "saturday",
"slot":"02:00 - 04:00"
},
{
"day": "sunday",
"slot":"not available"
}
,{
"day": "monday",
"slot":"08:00 - 12:00"
}
]

Yes, I can use array of dates/time or a date/time for slots but you get the idea.

Main thing is, appwrite doesn’t have support for objects, only option was to convert it to string and save, and while retrieving, convert it back to object which was a bit annoying and sometimes I got parsing errors.

Also, while retrieving data from database, even I was retrieving by specific id and its data is saved on database but I was getting NULL many times while accessing it from node backend even with admin access.

I also wanted to user other features like Functions, Messaging, Sites but got stuck at last moment and wasn't able to complete this and stopped it.

University

My 7th semester started previous week after long summer break. Although it was not break for me as I also did summer semester 😄😂

Anyways, this semester has some interesting subjects like “Compiler Construction”, “Enterprise Application Development” and “Machine Learning”.

Fluxxion changes

Fluxxion is close to reaching 1000 developers.

I did some changes on platform and community previous week.

WhatsApp community reached 1200+ members and conducted some sessions and fellowships.

On platform, we added new PRO challenges and enhance UI overall.

Then, we introduced PRO version with more features.

These changes give us future roadmap of what to do next and what to add more on the platform.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCJn5TcXsAM&t=21s

YouTube Video

In my Machine Learning class, I learned concept called “Association” and learned some algorithms like Aprori, ELCAT algorithm.

So I thought lets implement Aprori Algorithm and build a movies recommendation system.

Although there were some libraries that have implemented it but I re-implement it from scratch to get to know about it.

I also recorded and upload video on my YouTube Channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KuKf9lCCdc&t=119s

Frontend bootcamp

We successfully organized the 2 days frontend bootcamp, from 12th to 13th September.

We discussed the following things:

Overall it was good and we got positive feedback from participants:

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Shopify

I was working on making a shopify store.

Previously I have worked on shopify, its similar to wordpress but create mainly for e-commerce. Its also pretty easy compared to Wordpress.

If you are creating a shopify store, normally you would create account, install theme, modify theme and done. You store is ready for production.

Yes, there are also many other things to set, currency, checkout page, payment etc.

Shopify also built-in code editor where you can also change code, if you want 😗

Point of writing this is, how about making themes for shopify and sell online?

I have seen many themes, like this one:

Although, it will depend on how well you make your themes and pricing. But, many people do this, they buy these themes and use in their store instead of designing from scratch, or spent their time modify the themes.

Streaming Responses

These past two weeks, I have worked on implementing some AI agents and workflows where I deal with streaming responses.

I created these agents with ChatGPT & Groq API and added Pinecone and MongoDB for databases.

While creating these agents, I faced many problems.

The Agents backend is made with Fast API so I have to send response to frontend which is in Nextjs.

Sometimes, streaming not working correctly, sometimes its sending duplicate AI Messages, sometimes its not following system prompts and giving random answers, sometimes it is not following the actual workflow and many other problems.

But overall, it was great learning curve working with these things for a real world application.

Thinkr

Previous week, I wanted to upload a new video on YT as I uploaded the previous video 1 month ago.

So, I thought lets make a video on another project.

Then, I was looking for project that I can build for the video. After some research, I found one project.

I am a fan of urdu poetry & sometimes, what happen is, I find a verse that I like and I want to share it whether in WhatsApp status, instagram story or wherever. I need to find a picture that i can share along with verse and I have to share the verse without picture. This is good, but as you know, visually showing something adds value to it.

So, I thought, lets make an online editor, where user upload picture or pick any picture from online library like Unsplash, add verse on top of it and download the picture to share with others.

So I converted this idea into project I called “Thinkr”

Linkedin post here for complete details:
https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7369340206413443073/

This is an online editor, where you can upload your pic or pick photo by searching from unsplash.

After adding picture, you can add any text or pick from pre-defined texts where I added some urdu and english verses.

you can also pick fonts for both english and urdu writing, color, style and can also manipulate the background by changing brightness, contrast, grayscale etc.

After editing and adding text to your picture, final image will look something like this:

You can try out the tool from here → https://thinkr-studio.vercel.app/

Frontend Bootcamp

We are conducting 2 days frontend bootcamp on Fluxxion and GDGoC UET NC.

This will be mainly for beginners that want to start their journey in web development.

Plus this is also a little experiment of one feature that we will introduce in Fluxxion later.

Complete details about the bootcamp here:
https://www.fluxxion.dev/career-accelerator/2-days-frontend-development-bootcamp

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Getting into Top Tech Companies Session

Previously I told about this session that we at GDGoC UET NC, conducting session where Hamza Rashid was the guest speaker.

To be honest, it was a great session and I learn so many things.

At end, during Q/A as I was host, but I also had some questions to ask but my internet stopped working (probably shark attack) and I wasn’t able to ask questions 😢

I met with Hamza for the first time in Tech Tehwaar and it was the only the talk that I liked besides Ayesha Zaman Talk.

Sometimes, you need to heard other stories to keep yourself motivated and at that time, it was Hamza’s story.

FYP

One thing, previously I was really excited for my fyp.

I even started a dedicated playlist on my YouTube channel to document my project in the excitement.

But, now I AM NOT!

Yesterday, I had so many things that I want to write here, but I now I don’t want to write about it.

Summer

Previous week was the last week of summer. Final papers are done and now I am free for 2 weeks.

To be honest, it was HARD.

When you are repeating subjects with endless questions, doubts in your mind. And you have to keep your mind shut for whole semester.

But yeah it ended.

Anyways, lets get into this week’s episode.

Development Logs

Pinecone

I had a task previous where I have to use Pinecone db to store vectors embeddings and implement semantic search also. It was good learning experience as I haven’t used any vector db before.

Overall flow was something like this where I have to make interface similar to chatgpt. User can talk to any LLM using LangChain and for each message, store vector embeddings of that message to Pinecone and when needed (like in search feature) use user query vector to compare similar vectors to find most relevant conversations of user.

Slack + GitHub Workflow

So, recently I got idea to make something that can summarize my weekly coding work that I have done so I don’t have to manually go and check commits and history to check what I did.

That’s where the idea DevDiary comes, a github action workflow that automatically gets all of my week commits and summarize them using Gemini and send them to my slack channel.

So, every week I will get a message something like this, explaining overall work of the week:

I also recorded a youtube video explaining the overall process.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxK3z12buIQ&t=2s

FYP

Previously, I shared about fyp that I made the proposal and submitted it for review. I was confused at that whether I should pick this project or not. I also recorded youtube video explaining my previous ideas and current idea, its limitations.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sHEI7W4Gms&t=79s

Now that idea is FINAL.

I made some more changes after discuss with Maam and now I will present it to panel whenever I got date and time from committee for presentation.

Now main thing is to prepare for presentation. Although, idea is set now and I know how to build it except some few things that I will implement for the first time.

Fluxxion

We conducted 2 sessions this month.

One was with Fatih Demirci, on Career Paths in Enterprise Software.

The other one was yesterday night, On Mitacs Research Internship:

And we have 2 more sessions lined up with 1 main Session with Hamza Rashid:

So yeah, I am excited for it.

Plus, previously I was working on new feature for Fluxxion and complete the work already. But now, I had to delay it as there were many other features that needed to be improved before this feature come out. Plus, there were few things that were required for this feature so yeah, I had to delay it. Meanwhile, I am improving the UI and User experience by fixing minor bugs and improving UI so you may see some changes on Fluxxion.dev website.
